Mountain Dwarves

Page history last edited by Marc Langlois 1 yr ago

Dwarves, Mountain

During the reign of the Mage-Lords, the Dwarven race was essentially divided into two groups, those that supported the empire (Imperial Dwarves) and those that held to their traditional heritage, the Mountain Dwarves.

Those that capitualted to the Empires pregidous and enslaving pracitces became little more than well cared for slaves regulated to creating and serving the technology driven empire.

Those that resisted were hunted and killed or enslaved in prison camps usually as miners or base physical labor. Tens of thousands of dwarves died..

Since the great sundering, the Mountian Dwarves have returned to their extremely secretive ways. Having been enslaved enmasse as a race they have developed an even greater distrust of other races and even members of their own race not a member of their own clan.

    Personality: Unchanged/TBD.

Physical Description: Mountian Dwarves average 4 1/2 –5 tall, weighing between 160-230lbs. Skin tone is usually a lighter tone with a greyish tinge and hair tends to be dark brown or dark grey in color.

Life Span: Dwarves can live to be over 400 years old and reach an age of majority at 40.

Life Expectancy: Few people know what the average life expectancy is for a Dwarf that lives his life inside one of the secret Dwarven realms.

Relations: Dwarves mistrust EVERYBODY! After spending a millenia as slaves to an empire, they feel they will never allow this to happen again.

Alignment: Dwarves tend to have a very strong Lawful streak and considere anyone not of this attitude to be frivolous and irresponsible.

Dwarven Lands: Dwarven lands are rumored to be carved out of the hearts of living mountains and many surmise the majority of the dwarves returned there after the sundering. Of course there are still some dwarves living lives of enslavement under some feindish prince or crumbling remnant of the old empire.

Religion: Religion Is considered a very personal matter In Dwarven life, and since there are very few purely Dwarven communities In the "outside" world, there are very few Dwarven temples or Priests.

Most truly organized religion, In a Dwarven text, Is found In the secretive Dwarven cities hidden through out the world. Therefore, most Dwarven clerics encountered are either servants of a church of the Creator or a representative of a secret Dwarven hold on mission to Dwarvish bretheren In the "outside" world.

All dwarves pay homage to Moradin (mor-ah-DIN) (except those that are In league with the evil powers of the world), the Patron saint of Dwarves. In Dwarven myth it was he that brought the first dwarves from the great dark into the Creators paradise. He is responsible for teaching the Dwarven tongue, metal-working and mining.

Language: Dwarves speak Dwarven, which has its own runic script. Dwarves not raised in Dwarven lands obviously would speak what ever prevailing regional dialect they grew up under. Most dwarves do at least speak Dwarven or Common and a to a lesser degree some of the other. Dwarves do tend to have a higher degree of literacy than most of the other races.

    Names: TBD.

    Adventurers: TBD.
